Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a guided body-centred process for self-discovery that is physically and psychologically therapeutic. By combining therapeutic yoga methods with simple dialogue techniques to facilitate a deep state of awareness, individuals are able to tap into their body’s wisdom for authentic steps toward healing and positive lifestyle change.
The Phoenix Rising approach to yoga therapy operates under the belief that your body contains a wealth of inner resources that can move you toward wholeness and a deeper connection to life. At the same time, your body holds ”memories” of all your challenging and distressing life experiences, including your current situation. Your body often expresses these experiences as ‘symptoms’, such as muscular or nervous tension, fatigue, aches/pains, sensitivity, restriction, headaches or lifestyle diseases.
Phoenix Rising is appropriate for anyone wanting a guided body-oriented process for self-healing and growth in a confidential, non-clinical setting. It is beneficial for dealing with stress-related health issues or any distressing life issue that is manifesting as ‘symptoms’ in the body. It is also excellent for anyone who is interested in making a connection with a deeper sense of self, or for re-connecting with their body.
PRYT Process:
A Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy session begins by sharing what brings you to seek guided support. By spending some time exploring ‘what’s happening’, a focus or intention for the session can develop.
Once you have expressed what you’d like to explore, you are guided in a direct experience of your body and mind (sensations, emotions, thoughts, memories, images) by witnessing your internal responses. By reflecting on how your body-centered experience connects with your daily life, you can consciously address blocking beliefs, release emotional and physical tension and discover positive qualities for joyful living.
Techniques used in the session include gentle, supportive movement, simple dialogue and focusing, inner dialogue, meditation and active imagination. Toward the end of the session, a guided integration helps you create intentional actions to ground your experience in daily life.
By unwinding limiting body-mind patterns you’ll uncover positive qualities for deeply connecting with self, others and life.

Sessions are tailored to meet your individual needs. Clients remain fully clothed and should wear comfortable loose clothing. No experience in yoga is necessary to fully benefit from this approach.
The first session is 90 minutes and includes a personal history and introduction to the PRYT process. After the initial session, individual sessions are 75-mintues. Depending on your situation, you may get what you need from one session. However, for many people, several sessions are recommended – save $30 when you book a group of 3 sessions.
